New ESOCS General Headquarters Cathedral: House of Prayer, House of Unity By Mike Oduniyi

It was a roll call of who is who in the Cherubim and Seraphim church worldwide as the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim General Headquarters, Ebute Meta, dedicated and formally opened its Cathedral on Saturday, October 7, 2017.

The event, which also had in attendance dignitaries from government and political circles, including the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro, as well as other members of the Christendom, led by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence Rev. (Dr.) Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, more than provided a platform for members of the Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOCS) to celebrate the addition of yet another magnificent prayer house to the fold, but to the joy of the Cherubim and Seraphim leadership hierarchy, it also provided an avenue to further the course for unification of the entire fold.

The Baba Aladura and Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide, Elder (Dr.) David L. Bob-Manuel, led a strong team of the Advisory Board of ESOCS to perform the dedication of the N500 million Cathedral.

And to demonstrate the growing unity among the C& S fold, and the Christian community in general, Elder Bob-Manuel was joined in the cutting of the tape to open the cathedral by the Supreme Head of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church, Prophet (Dr.) Solomon Alao and the CAN President, His Eminence Dr. Ayokunle. The three leaders also sat together inside the altar to the admiration of the congregation.

Prophet (Dr.) Alao said that despite his tight scheduled on the day, he decided that he would physically be present at the dedication of the house of prayer, in furtherance of his objective to see that the unification of all C&S churches became a reality.

“Without ESOCS, the unification is not complete. I strongly believe we now have the leadership in ESOCS that is thinking the same way I am thinking,” declared Prophet Alao.

“With the spirit I see in Elder Bob-Manuel and his team, I think the time has come. God wanted it, heavenly hosts wanted it. We are tired of division, we want one indivisible Church so that we can one voice in the comity of churches both home and abroad,” he added.

Delivering the sermon for the day, Deputy Baba Aladura Elder (Dr.) Olusegun Demuren, also used the occasion to canvas for unity among all Christians.

“We must humble ourselves. We must pray, seek the face of the Lord and most importantly we must turn from the wicked ways,” Elder Demuren said.

“Amongst Christians, there is jealously, fighting, rivalry which shouldn’t be so. I don’t care what country you hail from, you must open your heart for God Almighty,” he added.

Likening the ultra-modern Cathedral, built on the sprawling land located on 75, Odunfa Street, Ebute Meta, in the heart of Lagos Mainland, to that of the house of prayer built by King Solomon in Jerusalem according to the accounts in the old testament, Elder Demuren stated that just as God promised to answer the prayers of the Israelites whenever He entered the temple, so shall it be for the new Cathedral.

He, however, said members should also be aware that the while the church represents physical infrastructure as a house of prayer, another temple of God is our heart. “The Church of God isn’t just the four walls, it’s you and I. Our father Moses Orimolade didn’t even build a church, but he had a bible and made followers for Christ. Therefore, if your heart, mind and soul is dedicated to God, then you have dedicated His temple to Him,” Elder Demuren said.
